I have tried with the cable you linked to (or a similar one I used on my 18 month old MBP) and I have tried with regular line in sound - nothing works and no pull down menu in System Preferences as my friend with the 13" has.įor me, the professional sound editor and whatnot argument is not really that valid, I want sound from my PS3 system into the Mac (run that through a small program called LineIn), and togehter with Skype out to my headphones via USB (like I have been using for a year with the old MBP). If I am wrong, please teach me how to do this (not Skype but audio in). It may or may not have support for the Apple headphones and the mic on it, I do not know - I have only tried that with Skype and I could not make it work. The out part, sure, but not what the thread starter wanted.Īlthough the non retina 13" MBP has only one jack port, it has line in/headphones out and spdif optical in and out - however the 15" MBP retina DOES NOT have ANY input capabilites on the jack input, only OUT (though both regular out and spdif). I am sorry to say DJ JoeE, you are a bit wrong on the capabilities of the sound port on the retina MBP. iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015) iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) through iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac mini (Late 2014) To set your Mac to play high sample rate audio: Connect one end of a TOSLINK optical cable to the headphone port on your Mac, and connect the other end to your audio device, such as an AV receiver.
